Annual Summer Camp De Kluis Scout Centre Sint-Joris-Weert, Belgium 3rd July – 10th July 2010 posted on 02/02/10 by Sarah

This year we are hoping to stretch our wings a little and spend a week camping at De Kluis campsite, 40km east of Brussels in Belgium. De Kluis is situated in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. It is surrounded by the largest mixed broad-leaved forest of Flanders: Meerdaal wood – Heverlee forest.

We will travel to Brussels with Aer Lingus and from Brussels we will take the 40km train ride to De Kluis campsite. Each scout will be allowed 1 rucksack weighing less than 15kg and 1 small daysack, remember that everybody will be responsible for getting the rucksack and daysack on and off the train so this is another reason not to overdo it! Our camping gear will be transported ahead of us, but each scout will need personal gear such as sleeping bag, foam mat and eating gear.

The activities for the camp will include hiking, rafting, orienteering, mountain biking, adventure ropes, and BMX sensation course. We plan 2 excursions one to nearby historic Leuven for the Scout Museum and swimming and the second to Walibi (six flags theme park).

The Scout Group are willing to subsidise our trip by €1000 and we plan to raise a further €1000 at our next fundraiser. I hope that this will make the camp affordable for all. This is a great opportunity for the scouts to experience life and scouting in Belgium and of course gets them out of your hair for a week!

Cost per Scout €300 – this includes all food, transport, camp fees, activities & excursions.

1st payment by 2nd March €100
2nd Payment by 13th April - €100
3rd Payment by 24th May - €100

Would you like to be a scout? posted on 02/07/09 by Sarah

We have been providing Scouting to 8 - 21 year olds of all abilities for nearly 25 years.

We have a Cub Pack (8-11), Scout Troop (11 - 15) and a Venture Unit, all offering a varied weekly programme. All sections of the group are open equally to both boys and girls.

All of our sections currently have spaces - if your son or daughter would like to join, please contact us.

We are currently looking for adult members to help out, either in a uniformed or non-uniformed role - if you are interested, please let us know.
